Based on a research of Fontys University of applied sciences and Rotterdam University of applied sciences a maturity model has been made to classify companies in different levels of maturity, whereby companies also receive advice on various aspects in order to grow continuously. Offering intermodal and synchromodal transport is step one, acceptance and implementation is step two. Are customers ready for it? Do they accept synchromodal transport? And if they accept these modes of transport, how much are they willing to pay for it?

Remco Pikaart (Director and Owner Shipping Factory), David Woudenberg (Lead Autonomous) and Pieter Boon (Partner Xomnia) talk about their project to use Artificial intelligence to enable MCS Factofour to operate autonomously in inland shipping.

On 1 January 2018, both parties established a joint venture called Shipping Technology. The project was established via this JV. All Shipping Factory nautical equipment is connected to the Xomnia technology and, using data collection, a lot of progress has now been made in the development towards the end product. The first models have already been tested.
